Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

“The Church is a hospital, and not a courtroom, for souls” (St. John Chrystostom).

Remember what the Lord has done for you! Give Him thanks and praise! Glory to His NAME for all things

The Monastery of St. Mary Magdalene

A little about us

The Monastery of St. Mary Magdalene was established in July of 2011 in the tradition of a Martha-Mary convent. We have been received as a hesychasterion monastery in the Orthodox Church in America and are part of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, which is presided over by The Most Reverend Mark (Maymon), Archbishop of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. Our Chaplain is the V. Rev. Mark (Koczak).

A little about the OCA

“The Orthodox Church in America traces its origins to the arrival in Kodiak, Alaska of eight Orthodox missionaries from the Valaamo Monastery in the northern Karelia region of Russia in 1794. The missionaries made a great impact on the native Alaskan population and were responsible for bringing many to the Orthodox Christian faith.”

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs can be easily summarized by the Creed (AKA Symbol/Statement of Faith) that was drafted at the First Ecumenical Council in 325 AD and amended at the Second Ecumenical Council in 381 AD. Orthodox Christians recite this creed in unison at every Divine Liturgy and nearly every prayer service.

Prayer

We pray for those who need others to join a choir of voices who are already intercessing for them, for those who have no others to pray for hem, and for those who do not know they need prayer.
